As an only child growing up I did not have other children to play with. Lacking friends and lonely I turned to horses. The horses became my friends, playmates, teachers, and confidants. Their wild spirit yet gentle nature has taught me to look within for my true self. The horses that I choose to paint are the wild mustangs of North America. The mustangs that I paint are out on the land roaming free on the land however most are in holding facilities waiting to be adopted by the public. To me these horses represent the true untamed spirit, that everyone truly longs for in their heart.

The Mustang Series is based upon a number of trips to go see these horses in Nevada.  I have collect many photos and been given permission to use others peoples photos as well for reference.  Many of the photos are from holding facilitys as well as roaming free on the land. Aspecail thanks goes out to the people that let me use their photos of these wonderful animals!!

I paint these wonderful horses and I now have the pleasure of owning one.  Her name is Whinny, she is 11 and was born on the range and captured out side of Reno.  She was adopted at the Palamino Valley B.L.M. by a family in Livermore. After being gentled her young owner lost interest in horses and Whinny sat for 6 years. She was later given to me on the agreement that I would give her a job.  I have plans on show her along with my Quarter Horse next year.
